Nekeas Tinto 2017
DO Navarra has an ancient tradition of winemaking, playing with grapes to make blendings thar usually suprise. Another great blending comes to the game with 70% Tempranillo, the usual player of any Spanish Wine, and 30% Merlot, a rare and exciting combination of 2 intense grapes that, thanks to the fine hands of the winemaker, are living in a nice harmony together in this blend..
The vineyards are located on the north-facing slopes of the Valley of Nekeas, located in one of the most trending wine Regions of Spain: the Navarra D.O. This location provides a great freshness and fruitiness to the grapes, then translated straight ahead to the wine.
For this wine, the two varieties are elaborated separately unless weather conditions at harvest time allow the winemaker the luxury of making them together. Cold maceration for at least 5 days, followed by at least 10 more days of Melolactic Fermentation with a controlated tempreature that never exceeds 28ºC.
The result is a well structured wine with an intense red colour with some blackish tones. In the nose you may find some nice notes of Raspberries and red cherries that are later translated in its flavour in a very fresh and rounded finish.
