Someone once said "Rioja is Spain in a glass of wine", and I think it is impossible to describe Rioja in a better way!
When we think of Rioja we immediately picture Spain’s other famous culinary delights: beautiful slices of Jamon Serrano, salty chunks of Manchego cheese and a bowl full of ripe green olives. One sip and we’re transported. This is exactly why we have created this gorgeous mixed case with on of the best Bodegas of Rioja and a great sample of their great wines.
This is what you will find in this case:
- 1 bottle of Abando Crianza Selected Vintage 2015
A Crianza wine from Rioja with a peculiar combination of grapes: 95% Tempranillo and 5% of Viura. Not only there is a game of grapes, there's also a combination of diferent oaks in the process of aging, with 12 moths of aging in American oak barrels and 3 months more in brand new French oak Barrels. The result, a great combination of wooden aromas that ignites the room as soon as you open the bottle.
- 1 bottle of Santalba Reserva 2011
A great chance to get a Reserva from Rioja. In Rioja there it's a tradition always to cellar and age the wines for you, classifying the wine according to the aging, a Reserva Classification is the second highest classification in Rioja and it means the wine was aged for at least one year in a barrel (in this case American Oak) and at least 2 years cellared in special Bodega conditions for at least 24 months. The wine maker selected the best Tempranillo grapes for this Reserva and this Vintage was classified as Excelent by Rioja DO. A great wine to add to your cellar and enjoy in a special occasion.
- 1 botlle of Santalba Seleccion 2017
The signature wine of Bodegas Santalba, this is a 100% Tempranillo wine aged for 6 months in American Oak Barrels, nice, fresh, easy to drink and with aa medium-strong body tipical from Rioja's Tempranillos.
- 1 bottle of Santalba Cotas Altas 2015
In Bodegas Santalba, you can also find Garnacha grapes, one of the oldest cultivated in this Bodega. This wine offers a blend of 60% Tempranillo and 40% Grenache, both manually harvested and selected from the vineyards located at the highest altitude of the Bodega, that's why the wine is called "Cotas Altas".
- 1 bottle of Abando Blanco Barrica Vintage 2016
A white wine made with 100% Viura grapes, aged for 5 moths in French oak barrels, with a good body and a very balanced flavour. As soon as you open the bottle you enter in a trip into the heart of Rioja and the classy style of their wines. It will come to your nose with Tropical and citrus fruits aromas and a characteristic hint of vanila.
- 1 bottle of Abando Rose Barrica Vintage 2016
A rose wine made with 100% Tempranillo and aged with the Riojan old tradition that uses the American oak to add sweet aromas to their wines. Rioja is well known as one of the wine regions of Tempranillo, not only within Spain but worldwide. If you are keen to know how a Tempranillo behaves when is used in the elaboration of Rose wines, this is a very good candidate to start your journey discovering the Spanish "Vino Rosado" of Rioja.
