This beer was created to celebrate the first 5 years of the Chilean brewery Kross (that's why it's called 5), combining eight different types of malt and five varieties of hops. It is the first Chilean beer matured with toasted American oak, a process that adds surprising texture and aromas. and notes of hazelnuts, toffee, vanilla and caramel.
Kross 5 has a powerful reddish colour, with rich malts, citrus fruits, prunes and raisins aromas, with additional notes of pine, oak and herbs. Nice notable complexity but not overwhelming, just as elegant as the bottle design. The taste is rich and fruity, most noticeably dark fruits, with a slight citrus and yeasty sourness which lingers on the finish. Vanilla is very apparent from the American oak, along with some subtle traces of coconut, the caramel adds complexity and compliments the full body. The finish is a medium bitterness, lightly toasted, with the dark fruits, nuts and caramel all lingering.
This is an excellent tasting Beer with all the flavours quite easily identifiable.
